Whats the best thing to feed your dogs?

i feed mine on leftovers, bones from the butchers, rabbit[any raw meat], tripe and dried food on occasion. whats the best diet for dogs?

Sounds like you are giving a pretty mixed diet which is a good thing. Think about the balence ie not to much of one thing and watch the condition of your dog as a guide.

I used to have an old "Burco" boiler, which was originaly designed for boiling chilrens nappies and other laundry, into that i would drop whole rabbits,

gutted but with skins on, or whole chickens (ex layers bought from the farmers market, very cheap) or sheeps heads when you could still buy them from the local abbatoir, add some vegatable trimmings, let them simmer away untill you got a nice stew ,add a good quality dog meal (biscuit), dogs used to do realy well on it.

 

I think the best thing for getting condition on a bad doer is raw unwashed tripe.

 

Nowadays i feed an all in one, with meat in the winter, not half as much fun !

i used to be able to get tripe for 10pence for pound of tripe. the bloke cant get it now and my dogs dont look half as good now. any know where you can get in im west mids.

Raw meat,meaty bones.vegetables. It's handy having a mate who is a Butcher who also runs Lurchers.

could do with a butcher mate, any butchers from leamington area want to be my friend? lol. does anyone know if you can buy tripe straight from the slaughterhouse? it must be cheaper

i feed mine, eggs srcaps, butcher meat, greyhound 20 all mixed in with flake maize and a drop of linseed oil for there coats!

I find, feeding lamb breats and butchers scraps, puts on weight on my lurcher, which does not make her as sharp when lamping, so most of the time, she gets Gain greyhound 28 and rabbits. Gain one day, rabbit the next, never feed complete and meat together.

Once a week, i get her scraps/bones from the butcher.
