Fieldsports Store

Recommended Posts

I want to open a Fieldsports Store in my area but ive no experience in retail but ive got experience in most aspects of hunting and i think i could provide a good service as theres no good place around that caters for hunting enthusiasts such as myself and there's alot of them about.. Most people i know either travel miles or order their equipment online..

Is there anyone here thats opened one or that could point me in the right direction of some places that could help me with some stock..

Cheers folks..

I used to have a trade account with Deben, even enough to organise once your up and running.

Trouble is youd be competing against all the online firms, is that possible? Lately it seems the world and his brother are selling stuff online, look in the trapping section on here for examples. Probably a few bob to be earnt with cartridges though if you became a fire arms dealer.

But i find if you have a store and you can go in and pick up the stuff and i actually see it in your hands, people are more likely buy stuff..

I used to sell dive gear at my dive centre and gave it up because people will come in the shop, pick things up, take all the advice etc. and then tell you that they can get it cheaper on the internet and walk out to order it there. Then they come in and want to have their cylinders filled at all hours and 7 days a week for 2£ a go. I told them to get their air via the internet and filled cylinders for my customers for free.

These days I refuse to buy stuff on the internet because of just that experience.

Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

Id reckon there would be enough of a market here for it as theres nothing of the sort around and more than enough hunters..

I know there's not loads of money to be made but id reckon you could make a living from it.. plus providing a service for people like minded as myself and bein in a job take you can take pleasure in doin.. but sayin that i aint gonna go into it if im gonna struggle, i'll look at all aspects before goin into it, thats why i came on here to ask people there ideas and see could i maybe get some pointers!

Cheers chippy..

thats the response ive got off all local lads..

If i go ahead with it, it may take time to build it up to the way id want it.. id want to cater for like minded lads like ourselves at 1st and build from there.. i thought the same as you that lads would rather buy from a shop than online..
