Hannah4181 260
Teaching tricks and basic obedience can start from day 1, it will help you bond with the pup and is vital for his development into a well balanced, sociable and obedient adult dog. Use lots of short, fun training sessions, lots of praise and tasty rewards. By simply holding a treat slightly above the pups head and moving it over his back, he should sit down naturally, add the word "sit" and feed the treat. . . . . . . . .try and keep your training sessions as games and no longer than 5/10 mins. Lots of play is also good to get you pup focused on you. He's a terrier as well so will love a game of tug! In terms of work you would need to ask the terrier guys, but if you can get him out and about with older dogs and into hunting situations to watch, it all helps to add miles onto him and enrich his training. The howling i'm afraid is normal, is he kenneled with another dog? Or next too another dog? This may help. Raw meaty butchers bones on the ground for him will add a distraction. And feed and play with him in the kennel to let him get used to it. Hope this helps.
lurcher lass 9
hi mate best of luck with the pup the girlie on top has said the bulk of what i would say another suggestion is let the pup be indoors for a while first to get used to when he's walked, fed etc and then start introding the kennel to him as an addition of the days routine and not a barrier training can and should start as soon as poss even if its 10mins every day but the more you give the more you'll get out of your dog fact! also for the howling if you do a search there has been loads covered on this so i'm sure you'll pick up more advice there take care lurcher lass xxx
