RWDSteve 0
I decided that today was the day I should extend the hutch ready for when the Kits start running about. Cost of hutch build to date is sweet FA (Nothing). All you need is some old odds and sods and a bit of imagination What do ya reckon? I started with an old cupboard. Quote Link to post
MAIN MAN 277
fair play matey thats a great idea Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Looks good, is the bedding area in the drawers, that would make them easy to clean out. Quote Link to post
RWDSteve 0
I did wonder wether or not to make the cupboard a 3 floor jobby and use the drawers as bedding areas but decided to section off the top left hand corner instead. Just open the left door and your in, drilled a hole in the base so they climb in from below. My theory being it cuts down on any bad weather blowing in (I was going to put it outside). My mate's bought a cheap hutch, its loads smaller and the wood is barely more than paper thin. Quote Link to post

RWDSteve 0
Yeh, go for it I've seen one made out of an old wardrobe before, required a fair bit more meshing but you get the picture. If you haven't got anything try Freecycle. If you want to make an outdoor hutch just fabricate a roof to screw on top and line it with some old tarpauline or a corn bag. Paint it up with some weatherproof paint, make sure you reinforce any panels that might go soft when wet. Silicone sealer is always a handy waterproofer although there may be some debate on whether its animal safe. Hope I've inspired some people into saving themselves a few quid! Quote Link to post

Hob&Jill 258
looks good the extra space will be good for the kits. How do you find the hitachi drills? atb, HJ Quote Link to post
RWDSteve 0
looks good the extra space will be good for the kits. How do you find the hitachi drills? atb, HJ I could do with some Lithium-Ion Batteries, but apart from that they're pretty good. The Cordless SDS is a brilliant piece of kit but the drill driver in the pic has developed play in the head and I've only had it 18 months (I'm a Self-Employed Sparky so it does get used quite often). If you're thinking of gettin some cordless gear Hitachi is good for the money, a bit better quality than Ryobi. Bosch is the best stuff in the price range but its a bit more expensive. I want a Bosch GSR10.8V Driver, with a Lithium-Ion battery. They're the best drivers I've used. Not an option in the budget at the moment though Quote Link to post
