CUPCAKE118 0
Went out on the lamp with a friend saturday night. The first rabbit we held on the lamp aimed with a standing shot changed my mind and quickly sat down cross legged aimed and got off a good head shot, crack as it hit the skull the rabbit jumped 1.5ft in the air and hit the ground like a stone with a little bit of kicking. Now this is when my experience let me down i think as i moved quickly over to collect/despatch the rabbit as i got to 10ft away it suddenly found its feet and shot into the nettles about 6ft away . I spotted the area and scanned it for ages but not an ounce of move ment or sign of rabbit. I am not pleased with this out come and just wanted to see if anyone has had the same or thinks i should have left it a minute before storming in? having a bad run not coming away with anything!!!!! starting to doubt my shots! not good not getting clean kills Edited June 9, 2009 by CUPCAKE118 Quote Link to post
Freddy Watts 1
I don't think a minute in that case would have helped much just added to the length of suffering. Maybe it was the storming in bit that was the problem. Though I didn't know stalking kills was generally the idea. Maybe check your zero or something along those lines it might just have been that it was not a clean headshot after all. ATB Freddy Quote Link to post

ATB Freddy will check my scope again try various ranges to give me a better idea of the shot performance! the shot was to the rear of the head is the skull thicker? Quote Link to post
Freddy Watts 1
The skull might be a bit thicker but i wouldn't think it would be so much thicker as to make much of a difference. The more important thing is whether the shot got the brain or not. Too far back and you may well have missed it or just clipped it and not enough to cause lethal damage. ATB Freddy Quote Link to post

Guest air gunner
this happend to me yesterday. It flipped then kicked and went still then as i got close it shuffled on its side luckily i had reloaded so just put another one in from 10yrds nice and quick. your best bet is to reload instantly and put another one in from the same position you took the first shot. Edgar 1
I once had the same happen to me. The rabbit ran 20 yards and collapsed stone dead. The pellet had hit it between the eye and the ear going throught the scull into the brain. This could be due to excess adrenalin in the rabbit? Quote Link to post
