craigyboy 1,274
digger dan, even though the quality of pics are poor you can still tell they are in good condition ... the only opinion i have is that they do need good beds... i got a sheet of ply raised off the ground with a couple of bricks under neath and an old bit of carpet tacked the full length of it... it gets changed every couple of months when its knackered... there is 4 things in life that i was told to keep a man healthy... 1. good food 2. a comfy chair 3. a good bed and 4. excercise... forgetting the chair all applies to dogs... get yourself better beds mate, you'll get alot more from the dog if you do... i had 2 kennelled together and one was bullied off her bed and made lie on the floor... after a night of work she lay on the concrete and woke up in the morning with a ball of fluid on her elbow joint... it was difficult to cure and cost a packet my lesson was learned well said mate Quote Link to post

whippetmike 3
your dog sleeps on that brick no way i agree with the welsh boy you could make somethin abit bigger and put abit of carpet on it they got to be able to spread out a little atb mike i can see you got no room but a good wooded ledge across the wall(carpeted) would be good give them a little more room under the ledge as well sorry for gettin involued Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
feck sake they must be the worst kennels i have ever seen ... what if the dog has an injury that makes it difficult to lay down as it is painfull ??? they havnt got much choice have they ... they curl up or stand not much of a choice there ... dogs need to be able to stretch out and relax their muscles after a night or day of hard graft ... you expect them dogs to work their balls off for you the least you can do is give them some comfort ......... martin 332
Hunters or not, some people shouldn't be able to have dogs,I personally don't think they look that hot, and, the beds are just stupidly small,as has been said a shelf type thing on the back wall with carpet/blankets would give them a decent stretch out, and, more floor space. If things are a bit tight you can get blankets etc from charity shops that they won't sell if they are stained or ripped, but, they would be great for the dogs. If you read through most of the posts on this thread without getting stroppy, you will see they are mostly constructive mate................Martin. Quote Link to post
whippetmike 3
Well said martin!!!!!! Quote Link to post
DeanD 3
feck sake they must be the worst kennels i have ever seen ... what if the dog has an injury that makes it difficult to lay down as it is painfull ??? they havnt got much choice have they ... they curl up or stand not much of a choice there ... dogs need to be able to stretch out and relax their muscles after a night or day of hard graft ... you expect them dogs to work their balls off for you the least you can do is give them some comfort ......... I believe those were originally intended for terriers by the size of the platform and the structures apparent age? Digger Dan, just modify the beds to fit a lurcher mate. If they have access to outdoor runs that should do them so long as you take them out as you said. Got to admit though, as someone else has said, have never seen such a quality argument in the for sale section before. LOL! Quote Link to post

Dead right on both counts Lucky, Socks your spot on too, I've looked at them pics again and again, those 'beds' are a fecking disgrace!!! Quote Link to post
supersam 64
well for one there smashing looking dogs kid, i know what your saying about a thin layer of concrete over insulation as it would give out a good amount of heat... do think there too small for them dogs though and also as one of em is big and would be heavier than the other there is a good chance with lying on a hard surface no matter how big he will suffer in the joints of his legs as he would be putting all his weight on em with no cushion... the size looks to be 18" x 18" as it looks a block length either way...think if your kennels are well say 4 ft wide then it would be good to extend the whole way across and put something soft on top the concrete... also the cement in the concrete can cause burns when heated and prob cause loss of hair in time in places... regards SS Quote Link to post
Staggerz 7
Looks like the block in brixton lol it's hard to tell what other space they have from the pics but i'd say you could at least lay an old door/bit of wood down over the block and prop it the other side with whatever to keep it steady chief so they can lay down proper? what we talking a tenner and an old blanket ? nice looking dogs you have sir but the pics do look a bit tragic from where i'm sitting. not meaning to have ago, just my opinion like. ferretmaniac 5
Hello just been browsing through this issue on this forum.Instead of people spouting of there mouth why dont they spend some time if their concerned and look up what the legal minimum space you have to give a dog in a kennel. I can tell you something, i went to college studying animal managment and i went on a trip to battersea dogs home...yea all very wonderful until i realised none of the dogs in there that either chewd,or demolished there blankets or dog beds got given a bed because they solely rely on donations from the public, the way they saw it was only the good dogs got a bed and if no blankets were donated no dog beds. So they all slept on concrete aswelll. I was just as shocked at the next person but it goes on even in a well known dogs home. Cheers FM Quote Link to post
