EskdaleHawks 8
very confined for space bud their sleeping benches, wat i done was filled it with aeroboard and then a wafer thin slice of concrete over, when dogs lie on it the aero board heats the concrete, there supplien warmth Thats a good idea a gal i know said mine may need a smaller sleeping space think this may be the way to go.......nice dogs them there. yup small backyard hadent tyhe space for big boxes dogs have shelter from all weathers thats the main thing and they sllep soundly on them so them dogs cant lay flat on the beds ?? why dint you take the bed across the whole of the wall ?? how much room they got to walk around in ??? tick tick tick tick !!! what do you know about me and my dogs, who the f**k r u to question what i do,they r walked every day so need not more than what they have got, their fed washed and cleaned, would u prefer i said f**k it not enough room ill leave them run around yard out in all weathers, lets c ur pens asshole :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: Hi! Just came accross this thread. DAN It would seem that the others have touched a nerve and if my set up was coming in for the critisism that yours seems to have attracted then I too would be a little miffed! However I have to say that you only have your self to blame. The photos that you have posted don't do you any favors and I have to agree with the others that there doesn't seem to be much room? That is the only critisism and a constructive one at that. So put the dummy back in and get on with life. If your dogs are clean, healthy, well fed and you exercise them every day then don't let them get to you. I apreciate that space may be at a premium but if your going to publish photos like the ones you have put on here then you can expect to get a load of flack. Just for the record I have bred and worked mainly gundogs for the last 20 odd years and just come back to running dogs after a long break! regards, Rod. EskdaleHawks 8
i've seen dogs sleeping in 45 gallon plastic drums, anyone else seen this method Yes! A chap I know uses 45gal drums for his spaniels. They are all encased in marine ply in the shed part of the kennel a) to stop them rolling about and to insulate them. You can't tell at first glance that they are 45gal drums! Edited June 27, 2009 by Cherrug Quote Link to post

Guest oldskool
digger dan, even though the quality of pics are poor you can still tell they are in good condition ... the only opinion i have is that they do need good beds... i got a sheet of ply raised off the ground with a couple of bricks under neath and an old bit of carpet tacked the full length of it... it gets changed every couple of months when its knackered... there is 4 things in life that i was told to keep a man healthy... 1. good food 2. a comfy chair 3. a good bed and 4. excercise... forgetting the chair all applies to dogs... get yourself better beds mate, you'll get alot more from the dog if you do... i had 2 kennelled together and one was bullied off her bed and made lie on the floor... after a night of work she lay on the concrete and woke up in the morning with a ball of fluid on her elbow joint... it was difficult to cure and cost a packet my lesson was learned Quote Link to post

They are then completly encased with exterior marine ply and boarded accross the front to the height of the bottom flat part of the D (if you turn the D on its side you'll get what I mean?) The top of the casing is hinged so that the barrel can be removed for cleaning. You could go one stage further and board the inside of the barrel full length to form a sleeping platform.
