chalky 0
MEOPTA artemis 2000 7 X 50 Wide field of view absolutely astounding clarity thro the optics and a really fine X hair so it doesent obscure the subject. I cant for the life of me understand why any shooter would need anything bigger for a max shot of 225 yds. Most shots being between 50 Yds & 125 Yds ive seen air rifles with 10-25 X 56 optics on for a shot that you could take with open iron sights. Dont listen to the hype surrounding scopes, most have crap glass anyway. i agree with a large objective bell as this aids in poor light but a small Schmidt & Bender second hand hungarian with X7 mag will easily suffice. pick up for £200. I hope this helps. Quote Link to post

I tend to agree but magnification is a very personal thing and everyone likes what they like for whatever reason, a few weeks back at Bisley on Short Siberia 200 yards, I was on 6x and the shooter next to me was on 24x....anyway, magnification aside light transmission and clarity come high but this can be achieved in a number of relatively innexpensive scopes. What I tend to find a good judge of a scope is how well it holds zero, the cheap ones tend to be different every time you take them out. So, after all that, get as good a scope as you can afford, if you have £200 to spend don't spend it on a £200 scope, spend £200 on a used £500 scope! Quote Link to post
quicksilver 0
i use a 8.5-24x 50 leupold on my 17hmr, i bought it off a member on the forum. The reticle is the varmint hunter which is quite fine. For the hmr i dont think you need too many aim points on the cross hair due to the flat trajectory of the round. I like this scope and find it good for the rabbits. i agree with the argument around magnification but it is always good to have the option to wind it up a little if the need arises especially to check out the immediate ground at your target for stones etc, although mine is never off the 10 setting much. keith Quote Link to post
riflehunter 1
I have a hawke endurance 30 3-12 x50 on my hmr and I cant fault it very clear crisp glass, great at dusk and dawn. This fella also has a hawke on his setup and he is hitting nails at 110 yrds Quote Link to post
