i was told the other day that if you put a buff silkie cock on a Sussex hen all the buff chicks are hens and all the whites are cocks?

 

 

You need to put either gold or white silkie over a light sussex hen........then yes gold hens and white cocks come out.

no not got any mesh on bottom, dont think is any stoats/weasels around but few rats, will they be ok with hen to look after them and keep warm, or should i put inside under heat lamp? heard they get wet if grass isnt short and catch a chill. cant wait.

chicks are due tomorro, when will i astart to hear them? when do i put chick crumbs out for them? do i keep giving the hen corn? at what age can i let them free range with the rest? was only planning on asking one question.
