kreet 0
my big dogs been lay up 2 month now with what started as a burst stopper thats healed up and he aint been on the leash in 2 months now the dog is short in the back right he drags it a bit i have some experience as i was a parader for 6 years and have always had running dogs although i know nothing about muscles now i have no idea what he has done as like i say he aint been of the leash and was fine when he had done the stopper he was sound in the back end i gave him a bit rub and worked the leg a little and i mean a little as he howled like a bloomin lunatic and jamp about the hight of me so its obviously bothering him quite a bit my grandads been racing greyhounds for over 60 years and said that all i can do is give him time and hope it heals itself so just thought i would ask some advice if any of you have any that would be great as thats been 2 months layn up i cant have him of the leash when out the run at all as he go's bonkers for 5 mins he thinks he is still a pup and he will just cause more damage so need to get it sorted as he is having a pine at night with not getting out as he is used to lamping at least 4 nights a week he is obviously frustrated but he will have to be till its healed its just starting to get grief from the neighbours etc.

SPOTTY BACKED BIG RACK 90
u would be better off getting a bone man or vet someone who knows running dogs to look at the dog than asking people on here what they think is up with it

kreet 0
p.s the vet said he has no idea how the dog could have done it while not getting turned out its beyond me too all he done was stretch the dog of as i did get a reaction and say yeah its the muscle just lay him up till it seems better then give him turn out to see if it stands up to the run
Cold Ethyl 63
Have you tried giving him supplements like glucosamine with chrondroiten in it and gree lipped mussel extract and fish oils omega 3 etc. They all help as does vitamin b with this kind off thing.Change your vet he sounds like a clown and go from there. The vet suggested vit b ages ago for another dog of mine and it worked a treat as did all the other stuff i mentioned if moneys tight dr johns platinum dry working dog food has the gree lipped mussel extract already in it and something else
skycat 6,173
Certain injuries will never get better or just go away if you lay the dog up: you really need to get a canine chiropractor/bone man to see him. If he has trapped nerves in back or badly scarred muscles due to severe tears which have healed wrong etc. Depending on the severity of the damage a bone man may or may not be able to sort him out, but you'll never know if you don't try. Any injury that you can't identify and treat yourself straight away that is still causing pain months later should be seen by a specialist, though by now (sorry to be gloomy) I would have thought that not a lot can be achieved. Best of luck: but DO get the dog seen by a specialist.
