Mr_Logic 5
To hit a circular target, irons are very effective. Certainly there were a lot of v-bulls shot with them at 1000 when I was at Bisley last week! Quote Link to post

According to Wikipedia Sharpes rifles were manufactured in the 1860s-1870s for 1000yd target shooting using ladder sights and black powder cartridges. The rifle in the vid is a replica Sharpes. The term "sharpshooter" derives from the rifle! Ric Quote Link to post

Yes, that's ten in a three inch group. At 300yds. With iron sights. Youse blokes don't know how jammy you are with all yer fancy glassware! At Adobe Walls Billy Dixon knocked a Cherokee chief off his horse at half a mile with ladder sights on a Sharps 52. Ric Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
I've got an old deactivated Chassepot rifle in my loft, well, my parents' loft, it has iron sights to 1000m, and was made 1871. Quote Link to post
