raceing pigeon's

right lads sounder jnr was out playing today and came home with a pigeon when i looked at it , it has the rings with numbers, is there a data base when these numbers are kept so i know where it came from or who owns it, and what do you feed one of these bird's

i think it wing is out of place , but not sure!!

[and no lads i did not shoot it ]

any help will be greatfull

it also said that if it has a rubber ring that is was in a race like this one has, what will i keep the bird in till i find who own's it , thanks for that link

Have a look on the inside of the wings they sometimes print a number to call if you found one. I once shot one in a barn, it had been living there a while because it had dried mud and feed around its feet

hi sounder saw another post and they fed it bread and water and corn ,if you can get any. it was kept in a large cardboard box with vents until it was strong enough to fly you might find something to help here http://www.rpra.org/Home/tabid/53/Default.aspx let us know how you get on AH

Keep it warm in a cardboard box will be fine - give it some corn if you can get any and some water. usually when they AMTRAK them (a transport method) they only go in a small box wide enough for them but narrow enough that they cant turn round. The ring number will allow the club to contact the owner and you can arrange for it to be collected.
