danebrewer10 6
OK here's the deal, I finally got round to making some sitting height shooting sticks for use w. my HMR. put the sticks up, rest the rifle in and rest the butt on your knee and it's as steady as a rock! lets you get above the grass and crops much better. anyhow, i just went out for a couple of hours and shot 10 bunnies, only 7 of eating size and I couldn't find one 'cause it was almost dark, (bet charlie had a good meal ) anyhow, how do all you guys carry shot rabbits? I just used a stick and hocked the bunnies and threaded them on that so that it balanced, but after carrying 2,3,4,5,6 rabbits for a couple of hours, my arm was practically being pulled off! Here's the dilemma, I know that gutting them will make them a WHOLE lot lighter, but I don't want to be getting blood all over my rifle so short of pushing a wheel barrow through the field, how do you guys carry bunnies on foot? (I'm a lone ranger btw and don't shoot/lamp with anyone else....) Cheers DB Quote Link to post

I shoot some, take them back to the car usually, then set off again, or if im going in one direction and coming back the same way i will sit them on walls where i remember they will be and i know i will pass. adam1 2
I carry loops of bailer band ( cut a 14 inch length, double it then knot it to make a loop ) put the back legs through the loop twist it and legs back through again then the end through the back legs and that holds them, I can get 4 or 5 on one bit, then I put the button of my army surplus jacket pocket through the loop and do it up and away i go, they do bang on your legs a bit but as long as your not walking miles its bearable. It also leaves your hands free. Having said that tonight I chucked mine in a hedgerow and walked back for the car Edited June 5, 2009 by adam1 Quote Link to post

whippeter69 88
I made my own rabbit carrier out of some car belts i found and some strong rope. Heres a pic, i have another one of these i think too. Strong and very very comfy, can carry about 14 good sized rabbits on it all together. Quote Link to post

Born Hunter 17,798
Best ive found is a length of seat belt! Just tie it into a big loop and leg the rabbits onto it then wear it like you would a game bag. Quote Link to post
danebrewer10 6
sweet! cheers guys! also do you tend to gut them when you shoot them or later at the car? hmmm, seat belt or bag it is then... though I'm not willing to sacrifice in car safety for rabbit carrying ATM what about a rucksack, as with a big 14 Ah 12v battery them things don't half weigh a ton! cbw 4
I hate the flees so I have a roll of small plastic bags and bag them up singley then leave them where I can find them on the walk back, to the car. They then go in a larger bin bag together in my game bag. CBW Quote Link to post
