Same old sh1te, somebody shoots a hare and somebody starts crying...if its on your permish and the land owner lets you shoot them,then go ahead and shoot them.

If its because its the breeding season and they could have young,do you think like that when you shoot a rabbit,pigeon,rat or squirral because the have young as well.

Or is because the ONLY way to kill a hare is with a lurcher,well theres a ban so what other way do you cull hares?

i would never shoot a hare......there are not sufficcient numbers in our area.....and they are a magnificent creature.

But in some areas there are that many hares they are a pest as there is a ban on hunting with dogs,what other way can you cull them?shooting,snaring or netting

if their a pest they need to be controled.....and theres no better way than with a rifle.

 

i was making the same point because the lad that posted the topic was called a twat for shooting a hare in june !!!!

i understand what you are saying but there are a lot of them on my permission and they are a pest, i dont know much about lurchers but if someone had permission on the land to use lurchers i would quite happily leave hares to them

When I was a small kid I saw a deer in the distance and asked my grandfather if it was a hare and he told me that hares don't have antlers. So the first photo is a hare, because it has no antlers and the three in the other picture are hares as well for the same reason.

some ban it is to shoot them all you like but to shoot them when in leaveret i have arguements with people coursing them this time of year its a waste of the great creature and yes i do respect some animals more then others hares are hares they are special rabbits arent

does anyone have similar feelings about rabbits ??????........i know hares are one of my all time favourite animals and i would never shoot them at any tme of year and there are not enough locally for them to be a pest any how.

 

but....pest control is pest control......sport is sport.....and agreed it isnt sport, but if its pest control and the landowner has asked for them to be controlled.....they and you have a duty to do this as is the case with all general licece quarry "as long as it is a pest".....as clearly defined in the general licence.

 

again i DO NOT shoot anything for shooting sake.......even rabbits, if their not a pest....you have to take the moral stance and leave them be.

 

i can see both sides and this is only my opinion.

I've seen Hares running in fields from a distance and judging by the size of that it was a great distance

 

Its hind legs are as big as the rabbit never seen one up close and had no idea as to how big those creatures are.
