Net pegs?

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this has been covered before (should use search facility) what do you use for pegging out your Purse nets?

If you make ss it best to use round or flat?

Do you use what nature can supply, hasel etc?

Tent pegs?

I would be interested to know what is the most popular.

Thanks

I used to make hazel pegs about 5 inches long but then i bought metal ones from the Welsh Game Fair and they don't rot and last an age. But the were a bit noisy above ground so i bout these thick tike ones from the Welsh and they were great. But i have gotten rid of all my nets and pegs and only use dogs, long nets and shotguns.

I have manly hardwood pegs, but i do keep a few nets in the bottom of the bag which have small meat skewers as pegs (about 4-5") and i use this when the earth is frozen so they slip in but still hold with out me making too much racket. i wouldnt use these anyother time as i think they are too thin to hold in the ground and would just get ripped out.

old feller introduced a few placcie pegs so that he could see them last season, bright yellow! :o Did not like the idea to start with, but after i got rid of the traditional ideals (I like wooden pegs) they are better.

Don't rot

Can be seen

Hold as well as any peg

He was right.

Why would being able to see the pegs be helpful, surely if they are attatched to a net should be easy enought to find?

but not when the net is dragged down a hole by a rabbit ;)

i have had pegs made of evrything , i mostly use hazel, but a mate has metal tent pegs the flat angled one's , and they are good.

i have made a lot up using 3mil fencing wire just bend a loop in the end of it, you can take these as exta's when the ground it rock hard, leave your wood peg on , but just loop the running line over the top ov the wire.

I have used all types of pegs over the years........but always seem to go back to good old Hazel. Easy to work with in the green, drill a hole for the net cord, job done.........and simple to replace if needed.
