alright comrades, i bought the new deben mk 3 earlier today. i had it in the garden testing it out and found it great to use. i know theres a big difference when its on a terrier underground but i was still impressed. has any one used this system for any length of time and is there anything i should look out for? im itching to use it for real come winter.

From the little i have used one, i found the noise of the locator box very annoying..... the collar too is far too flimsy IMHO......if i were spending near-on £200 i would expect a decent strength collar...after all, if the collar strap fails, the rest of the product is flawed......

i did find the noise a bit headwrecking but it was also easy to hear a change in the frequency. only work in the field will test the system properly i suppose.

Basically a good system but the collar does need strenthening like Darcy said .Takes a bit of getting used to after the old grey boxes. The noise is piercing and may betray a dig in the wrong place  .The bright colour is a bonus though and once use to it there is rarely the wandering about trying to get over a mark as the directional arrows and pip-pip lead you to the dog .We have found they lie a bit when directly over a dog,but not too much. They also work with the old collars if necessary.

The mk3 has changed 3 times since they came out the latest one has a pinpoint knob on it for easier location i will stick with the mk1 far more reliable and as JD says the collars are not very good quality and for the expected use they should be loss the collar underground and we have BIG problems

Bellman and Flint

Had mine for over a whole season, the collar is so tough you could tow a truck with it, ... very usefull above ground for terriers working cover with potential eaths in them, and even better below ground

Batteries last for months and you can locate more than one terrier at a time

What more could you ask for ....
