can anyone help, i have a kelpie whippit greyhound and having trouble retreiving he is ok in the garden but as soon as he is on open ground he runs about like mad with it rabbit or dummy :wallbash: . any advice would be great

Ignore the pup when it`s doing this and walk away, it should come to you with its retrive to get your attention..

when it does make a real fuss...

cheers mars but he just keeps droping it and leaving it .even when i put the dummy away and try him agian its the same thing
have you got a plane dummy if so try tying a rabbit skin to it it will make it more appealing to him ,my pup wouldnt chase or pick up anything until i done this,it kept him in one place as well because he liked to have a chew on it

leave the retrieving alone for a couple of days, then go back to the garden training. If this fails attach the dummy to a light piece of string when you call the pup to you take the tension up on the string so you are virtually towing the pup towards you. When the pup is at your side give it plenty of fuss. Hope this helps.
