Colliex Advice

Recommended Posts

A friend has just lost his dad and would like me to have his colliex dog now he thinks its a first cross but my other friend says you would be able to tell if it was a first cross and he thinks its not and what exactly does 3/4 1/4 1/2 crosses actually mean sorry for not understanding. He is a good worker but have heard that first crosses are not very good could you tell just by looking at the dog? If so whats your opinion this is him anyway.

Thanks

3/4= 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie, 7/8 greyhound 1/8 collie.

....or to put it simply if you crossed a collie with a greyhound the pups would be 1st crosses.

If you crossed one of these pups with a greyhound they would be 3/4 breds.

Who ever said 1st crosses were no good was talking out of their arse, good and bad in all crosses.

I'd forget about the percentages though, if you have seen the dog work and your happy then go for it.

how would you know if its 3/4 or first cross on a first cross some will go more to the greyhound some will go more colie so how can you tell?

my opinion, the dog is very light boned it could even be a full bred greyhound, but again I can only look back on my dogs over the past years collie xs

so come on all you collie x owners have a look and give an opinion, interesting to see other peoples views,

I would like to see more of the feet to see if they are long and crappy like the greyhound or small and boxed like the collie but if push came to shove, I'd say 3/4.

first of all i would like to say well done for you taking the dog on :notworthy:

i am well on with Border Lad on this one it is a very flighty type not much lung room so a 3/4grey 1/4 collie possible but even if it is that way crossed he has took more to the grey but your happy your mates happy what does it matter
