i just bought a remington 700 sps dm in .243. cant tell you how it shoots yet but i got mine for £495 brand new off guntrader. what a bargain considering my dealer quoted me £670 for the standard floorplate model. plus the detachable mag is far better than the tikka which felt pretty flimsy to me. also great for customising in the next few years.

just a word about the remmy, i know of a few that aren't shooting at all well at the minute from new, the pressure bedding at the fore-end seems to be the trouble, and the crown of one looks like some-one put a blunt drill down it.... :icon_eek:

if at all possible try and shoot the gun you may wish to purchase...... they are a good gun but like everything a few bad ones always get out there too...

snap.

Hi

I use a Sako 75 in stainless/synthetic and have done for years.

Great action, magazine and good looks too!

Check out www.guntrader.co.uk and type in exactly what you want.

There will be loads of them in your price range, and remember not to make

a snap decision as you will have the rifle for years if you get a good one

at the start.

Happy hunting.

Cheers

ps. Let us know what you buy.

There is one essential question you will need to ask - what is the twist rate for the barrel

Bear in mind that if the rifle has a 1:12 twist rate you will not be able to shoot the heavy deer bullets of 80 gr upwards as the twist rate is too slow to get very good accuracy.

Make sure it is about 1:10 that should shoot just about all the weights accurately.
