k9delboy 138
My bitch went from Fife to Wolverhampton to get mated and i had to leave her for 3 weeks then drive back for her to bring her home. Total driving approx 1400 miles for a repeat mating from 2 years ago as pups turned out wee crackers. Hope these ones turn out as good.
micky 3,325
Hi there all, I have been lurking in the sidelines for a few weeks just reading a few posts etc. good site by the way. What is the score with the replies/comments in the for sale section ' if only i was closer, or if only you wasn't so far away i would have it off you for sure'. Does hardly anyone drive, or is the forum full of kids. Admittedly I have not bought a dog for a few years, but i thought nothing of driving a couple of hundred miles each way to get the right terrier pup. Sorry for my first post being a bit of a rant, but that type of crap gets on my t#ts, if people are genuinely interested they should say so, but the ones with the mentioned comments are just tyre kickers and picture wanters. Cheers for now Pernod I was selling a litter of pups in the 70s,a chap from Barry Island came down to Leicestershire by bus,a days travel i think,he saw the sire and the dam and spent 20 minutes looking at the pups and talking about lamping, then straight out of the blue said , i think i will pass on these mate, its not what iam after. Neal 1,873
It wasn't until reading this thread that I ever gave it any thought; but having thought about it I've realised that of the eight dogs I've bought over the last eighteen years none of them have been from close by ie the same county. I think Jigsaw probably holds the record though especially when you add in all the extra cock-ups he suffered along the way. But boy was that bitch worth the trip! Guest clash
The other side of the coin is some kids dont drive. Is a lot of trouble getting a driver you can trust & will oblige. On top of that you have 2 expenses instead of one & if its an overnight stay, then the drink & digs. Try a 10 hour round trip doing that. Like Jigsaw, its hopefully all worth it in the end,but it dont always work out like that..........................Theres decent dogs out there, but if you aint willing to travel to breed to a worthy stud or buy the right pup then your only kidding yourself.
