i need tips for hair hunting with dogs

hey my name is alex and im 15 i have a laby retriever and want to get into rabiting iff u have any tips 4 me then mutch will be apreciated as i am a 1st timer and dont know how it is done because there are a fair bit of wild hairs here and im not sure how to train my dog ro chase them and hunt them little vermins down if u carnt get threw to me then email me on waggadogger@hotmail.com

you need a good windy day a bit dull maby rain walk in to the wind wher u wont to coruse hairs like to lay flat to ground approch quietley with dog on slip it shuold jump up and run when u get close slip dog and stand still

Waggadogger your lab may catch the odd bunny but not on a regular basis and it wont be fast enough for hares......Go and have some fun with your lab but to catch anything regularly you will need a purpose bred running dog.............

And I'll shove 60 quid on the guys dog doubled up :D

It's a pity Hare coursing is banned over here, we have a little bit of ground over here called the fens where I'd reckon that dog would do well on........

IF this is not a wind up then this lad is very green and the lurcher people on here can give sound advice but be gaurded in what you say no doubt there are anti field sports people in aussy land.

Are you at the wind up??? How can you give a guy with a lab advice on how to course hares?

Annon please read my post =sound advice from lurcher people would include the use of the correct type of dog not on here to wind anyone up looking at the replys some people are giving advice and all i am saying is be carefull as we all know this site is moniterd and this lad is asking about hare coursing!.

I don't know the laws in Australia but I'm guessing they ain't living in a granny state like us so hare coursing will probably be fine. Anyhow, it isn't against the law telling someone how you course a hare as far as I am aware.... bomb making yes but hare coursing, I don't think so. Sorry if you thought I was trying to get at you, I wasn't.

you could try telling the young lad that a lab is going to struggle catching hares ..

and he may need a lurcher type dog to give them a run for there money.....saying that my bushing terrier caught three winter hares this season....accidenty of course... :D

you could try telling the young lad that a lab is going to struggle catching hares ..

and he may need a lurcher type dog to give them a run for there money.....saying that my bushing terrier caught three winter hares this season....accidenty of course... :D

 

Was it on the fens in January??? Thought not.... :tongue4:
