This post is getting stupid, its a small trap, compress the spring with your hand, if you want put the safety catch on...... then using the trap jaws compress the spring fully and flip the trigger/dog over.. thats it... Get your dad a 120 and see how he copes... :laugh:

That trap looks damaged in the last picture.

 

It could be that it is bent in such a way as to prevent it opening properly. Send it back to the retailer.

 

You should be able to set a 116 with your hands.

With a trap setter you can set , or unset, twenty traps in a couple of minutes, i suspect anyone trying to do this by hand would be blowing grapes out there arse by number ten :o :wacko: :o

I may have the solution...

 

If the dog (the thing with the half circles cut out) has caught one of the jaws, you will not open it with a bulldozer. Make sure the trigger wires and the dog are in the center of the trap before trying to prize the jaws apart. Just a thought.
