Hi, this is an open question to anyone that has bought talpex traps from Killgerm, i recently got 2 traps from them as a sample to use and see if i liked them , which i did they were very good quality.

Off the back of the samples i ordered 20, but when i received them the holes in the trigger plate were punched out very roughly, and the trigger pins were not closed right, and have a habbit of falling out (infact i lost 2 that flew off after triggering) so i got intouch with Killgerm and to cut a long story short sent back a sample trap and 2 bought ones for them to compare. To my horror they have near enough said that these are not their traps and are coppies, and i must have swapped them, i assured them that i only have 22 talpex traps and they all came from them, they replied that they have never had anyone complain or comment that the trigger plate holes were rough or the pins were not closed right (ill be honest if i had only paid 3 pound for them as coppies id fix them myself as i have caught a fair few moles with them and the springs are good and strong but the price they charge i think they should be of the standard of the sample traps,) im just wondering has anyone else had faulty traps like mine from this company, any responses would be greatly received, atb Nellie

I bought my Talpex through Killgerm and found them to be in excellent order - however, I agree that the stamped through (or badly drilled) hole needs filing, they do have some rough burrs on them sometimes, but the pins are all well attached on mine.

I hope you have good luck in getting replacements or refunds, as in this financial climate companies (even large ones) cannot afford to lose custom.

All the best

Having been out this morning, to lift a couple of traps and get sqaured away(always the nice bit) and losing yet another feckin pin, i phoned Killgerm a bit steamed up, sating i wasnt happy with the way i was treated yesterday (accused of sending back coppies), the lad on the phone then said that he hadnt said that ,i said you did ,and he said no i said having seen the traps you sent it crossed my mind that you had sent back coppies !!!! .

So i said if you think im trying to swindle good traps for coppies get the police in as im trying to defraud you, and do you realy think i would post back traps at my own expense hoping to that you wouldnt recognise your own traps, its not like its thousands of pounds worth, oh no we agree with you that the traps are faulty blah blah blah, and we will replace them, and im very sorry that you felt we accused you of sending back coppies.

The long and the short of it is i have now ordered 40 (20 replacements and 20 more, note to self dont phone when you have just been paid lol) and all, if not well, is certainly better.

I have asked them to let me know how i ended up with"rubbish" their words not mine, as they are trying to get to the bottom of it, i would also ask anyone who gets traps that need fixing or fileing to get intouch with Killgerm as it is the only way the manufacturing qaulity will improve, atb Nellie

good to hear you got it sorted mate, never had probs myself with gilgerm, always been a good suplier.

i did however haggle like feck a year or two back whilst buying some duffus, and got them for just under £5 each including vat and post

Tomo, i did haggle like feck, its one of the main reasons i went to them, first the quality and then the price was only 20p a trap more than what i have seen some coppies for, im not one to hold grudges and its been sorted now we have both had our say and fairs fair they have done the right thing , so onwards and upwards.

What are their duffus like any good?, using flatpack ones just now and not that i know much but they are doing the job.

Did the faulty traps have "Talpex" stamped on them......? I will be speaking to them a bit later and might be able to get to the bottom of it for you. I have a few thoughts on what might have happened.......but need to confirm it with Paul Hoyes first.

yep had the stamp had the bar code sticker on the trigger plate came in the brown boxes in tens the way they normally post them, with the invoice,(it was just the copy trap accusation that got to me ,and the fact id lost another pin this morning only leaving me 13 working traps out of 22 so admitidly i was heat up when i phoned but he said he didnt mean it the way it came accross and i accept that. As i said on the phone there is no other way i can prove that the traps came from them, but as stated before its sorted now , it was actually Paul who sorted it for me, so good on him, dont know how this happened, maybe a rouge batch, i really dont know, but it seems a good company from what i have read from other folk, and this blip wont stop me using them in the future, they might not be so keen in having me as a customer mind lol.

Sounds like they may have had a faulty batch come through the system then. Yes Killgerm are a first class suopplier so don't let this put you off because i have been using them for years without any problems

there dufus are genuin duffus, but they also sell big cheese barrel traps, i tried the big cheese ones a few year back, there in a box now waiting to go to the tip

i think i saw some flat packs half barrel traps on BOBNETS stall at melton a few months back( if he reads this he can confirm what they were). very strong , thik plate and strong springs, but i wasn't impresed with the triggers and catches they seemed loose, and fired whilst i was handling them. but like i say they may not have been flat pack

When i was speaking to them yesterday, they said that they sold cheap traps but have stopped it now, (think it wasnt the route they wanted to go down, more the quality end), the flatpack ones i have used , if your talking straight out the box, wouldnt fire off, and if not plugged would catch arse end(well mine did) and i had to adjust them a fair bit to get them right, so i wonder if someone had already been at them so to speak.

Update from Killgerm, got my traps today, not bad as it was only arranged yesterday, checked them and they are all fine, phoned to say thanks and they said they will keep in touch as the other traps have been sent to the manufacturer to find out what went wrong, i had a thought that maybe the tool that drills or punches the holes was at the end of its life and my batch was just before they changed it, as for the pins not being closed properly i have no idea what happened there, so will have to await their findings.
