TonyTebbe 1
I'm about an hour from Roswell. I agree, plenty of hares in this part of the country. We've been working these two young dogs on day coursing, but am really happy with lamping. My son and I were suprised on how many will come into the lamp, from 100 meters all the way to the vehicle. Made for a bad day for them, when we pulled the cord and let the dog box door drop. I guide coyote hunters for a living, but would like to focus on coursing during the summer months. Plenty of land and hares here. I'd really like to find a saluki or saluki x in our area. Tony Quote Link to post

dirtwinger 235
I tried shearing her, as she has a coat unlike any dog I've owned. It's a thick mat of soft fur like a beaver. She gets very hot just laying in the shade here in the 104 degree F. We lamped from the top of the vehicle, similar to how we call coyotes at night. The dogs come back on command, but had a few times were they wanted to stay out a bit. I had to remind them that they are hunting for us...not themselves. The little blackmouth cur pup (4.5 months) is actually my future coyote dog, but is learning very quickly to be a rabbit killing machine. He caught 1 jackrabbit and 2 rabbits by himself. Yes, they are jackrabbits. Rather large and can cover some ground in a hurry. We had quite a few misses. I working on finding a running mate for Onyx (the black greyhound). We have a large male greyhound, but he seems to have zero hunting instinct and reluctant to grab hold of even a rabbit. I'd like to find a saluki cross, but they are extremely hard to find in the US. I have a good question, but I'll put it in another post. Thanks...Tony Hi Tony, I live in Albuquerque and course jacks I currently have a litter of 5 week old pups out of my lurchers and have two bitches left if your interested. Both parents have been very sucessful hare coursers, the pups are 1/4 austrailian shepherd, 1/8 border collie, 3/8 greyhound and 1/4 Tazi. Glad to hear of a new courser in NM. all the best Dirtwinger Quote Link to post
