jazz_11 5
well guys im 16 had my sgc for a few months now, i am seriously temted to send in for my fac as i am tired of not being able to get close enough on rabbits with the air rifle as the farm i shoot on is very open... now the good part which i hope is going to work in my favour... i have my sgc as ive said, the land i shoot on the owner is a fac holder as he has a 5 shot semi auto so the land must be police approved, i am only going to get a 22 rimfire just for rabbits and birds at longer distances. i understand you cant shoot them into trees so squirrels are a no no..... i dont really no the ins and outs of a fac but i will obviosuly learn them before i go any further. i dont undertsand how if i get a new piece of land how they will come and inspect it before i can go on there and alos what happens if i want to get a diffrent riffle like a 17 hmr... cheers jazz Quote Link to post

First off just because the owner shoots FAC on the land does not mean it is cleared, he may have an Open Certificate...you need to ask him, and/or the police. Don't ever suggest to the police ..or anyone, you are shooting the FAC into the air/trees. Big problem area!!! If you are granted a FAC the odds are it will not be Open and EVERY piece of land you want to shoot on will have to be cleared BEFORE you shoot it. If you want to change your gun or add another you simply apply for a variation to your FAC. Quote Link to post
Country Life 0
If you want to change your gun or add another you simply apply for a variation to your FAC. It is better to put on your ticket on application the rifles / guns you may want in the future, including the mods. the FEO can advice you when he does his visit to check your safe etc. for example, 1 .22 bolt action rimfire rifle. 2 .22 moderator 1 .22 semi auto rimfire rifle 1 .17 hmr rimfire 1 .17 hmr moderator 1 .243 cnt fire bolt action rifle 1 7 shot semi auto shotgun By doing this you will have to account for all enteries and why you want them. I did it this way and got all mine passed even though I was not getting them all at the same time. I have had my tickets now for 2 years and have still got slots left. so I will not have to pay for a variation unless I add to it, I could change what I have slots for, without the cost of £30 for the variation, in other words you could change the.17 hmr for a .308 and it will not cost you anything. I am however a member of a gun glub and my .308 is only listed as a target practice rifle so I cant shoot deer unless I get an invitation by way of letter and show it to the FEO so I can then get expanding amo, hope this helps.
