lgray88 4
it will becoming time soon that i will be thinking about purcahsing my new deer rifle in 6.5x55. is there any gun shops who sell guns packages that include a moderator and rings for a reduced price rather than purchasing the items seperately? i would prefer if the package didnt include a scope a i was looking to possibly pick up a 2nd hand schimit and bender. lliam Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
The best advice i can give mate is to go into a few well known quality dealers and haggle for what you want, When your buying everything under the one roof you should get discount, be aware of the prices of the items you are looking for before you start to bargain, that way you will know if your getting a good deal.... remember buy once cry once.............. quality will last and have good resale value.... mattydski 560
i heard good things about macleods , do they have a website? http://www.rmacleod.co.uk/ I dont shop there personally, but know someone who has had good service on a Tikka from them. They do a deal as well. My own shop is in Forfar, but that's a bit far for you.. Dick Hardy..He is good as gold But I also use Crockarts in Blairgowrie for my Sauer bits, and occasionally PD mallochs in Perth. Cluny clays has a good few rifles in.. Matty Quote Link to post
lgray88 4
thanks mattydski , seems they have no laminate ones may be worth giving them a call , they have a few decent scopes thought that would suit there place well on the rifle i want. il give them a call and see what they say, im still awaiting my licence to be printed with the new changes so no hurry yet. liam Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
i heard good things about macleods , do they have a website? I was shooting in Lairg (think thats how you spell it) about 7 years back and went into Tain on the advice that Macleods were good (to be fair, not a lot of other choice anyway)..but I wasn't dissapointed, a great shopping experience! flytie 1
I bought my rifle (Sako 75 finnlight in 6.5x55), scope, rings, mod, cleaning kit, ammunition, slip and sling from Macleods, they were the best value in the country. I live on the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire border and I rang all the big dealers. I must have spent a day on the phone in total, but I ended up with a really good deal. I compared them with all the big dealers in Gunmart and they came out on top. They were better than my local dealers by miles, I did go and see them and asked if they could match the price, none could! I will admit I was lucky with the choice of rifle though, Sako had just brought out the 85 and the 75's were well discounted, and Macleods had one they wanted rid of. I bought an ex display S&B 7x50 scope for £250 off list price too. My advice spend a day on the phone to all the big dealers, tell them that you will buy the whole kit from them, and see what they offer. You can even play one off against the other, as long as you don't be too rude about it. Atb, ft edit, There is a new and unused Sako 75 6.5x55 in this months Free Reader adds of Sporting Rifle magazine. Screw cut, with T8 mod, S&B 8x56.........................
