whats the best food to feed my bitch to build her back up on after her pups are wiened off

What was she on before? if she was well on that then you could go back to it.

Basically good quality and varied. If feeding a complete then one with a reasonable protein content, plus you can add some butchers waste meat or pet mince, table scraps, cooked veg, and bearing in mind the risks, raw bones will help to replace calcium stores that may have been depleted through milk production.

If as you say, she has lost a lot of weight in three weeks, then she is not getting enough food. We feed a bitch with pups about 5 or 6 times a day.

Sandymere has posted some good advice regarding feeding. You don't mention what sort of dog, so meals need to be matched to size. Something labrador size for instance, would put away a half pound of mince three times a day with a half cup of goats milk. Then fill in with pasta, complete foods and veg with scraps in between. A bitch gives a lot to her puppies in the first 4 weeks, and it is not cheap to maintain her condition and energy during this time.
