Fidgety 8
I'd like to know that too, surely someone knows where there is an article on preparation?? Quote Link to post
gsmith 0
My method is 1. freeze head 2. put in bucket of hot water for 20 min to partially defrost. 3. in jig and cut the cap 4. using a knife remove every bit you possibly can from the head 5. using a large old sauce pan with boiling water enough to submerge the head but not to boil on the coronets add 2 tsp of bicarb 6. simmer head for 20 mins roughly or until remaining meat and fat is pealing away with a spoon and knife. 7. once every bit is removed lay out cling film cover the skull cap in your choosen bleach type i use 40% from a friends hair salon 8. wrap skull cap with cling film ensuring is dosent touch coronets and leave for 24hrs 9. wash off bleach remains and mount.. this has worked on all types of dear i have shot. wireviz 8
[That will do it GSMITH AND MOST WILL DO IT THAT WAY SOME WILL USE A POWERE WASH TO WASH THE MEAT OFF. If YOU ARE DOING THE FULL SCULL I WOULD AFTER A FEW MINUTES TAKE THE HEAD OUT THE WATER AND GIVE THE BRAINS A REALLY GOOD STIRING UP WITH A SCREW DRIVER OR SIMILAR AND THEN PUT BACK IN TO BOIL. sauer 2
another tip.... somefolk buy the liquid peroxide which just like water ...you then have to soak kitchen paper and wrap it round and in the skull soaked in the stuff so that it maintains contact and therfore bleaches......BUGGER THAT!! go to a local salon and you can buy hydrogen peroxide ( hair bleach) in cream form....... fairly cheap and lasts loads!! clean small paint brush.....old ice cream tub..... paint the skull with the cream ensuring it is all over you can be neat and precise its fairly easy in cream form.....place in ice cream tub for 24 hrs and then rinse off and leave to dry Sauer Quote Link to post

I'm going to try the cream form and I've got a mate whos a hairdresser, is it bought directly as a cream, or do you have to mix a powder with a liquid to make the cream? Quote Link to post
