run_rabbit_run 0
hobs i find are much better workers but they often lay up but jills work much faster but as soon as they cum out of the hole they often chase the bolted rabbits Quote Link to post
Guest donh
There is not much difference apart from size (hobs tend to be larger and stronger than jills). Are you wondering which ones to keep out of the litter? All The Best Donh Quote Link to post
stubby 175
Id keep a mixture, you obviously already have ferts, to have bred a litter, what have you already got as adults?, how many do you want to keep in total? then its down to preference and terrain, on a half days outing, Id take 3 jills, but a full day out would take 5-6 jills and a couple of hobs, let the jills work first, then use the hobs to push any out that are sitting tight when starting your youngsters off, put them down with one of the adults, Quote Link to post
scaramanga 0
hobs i find are much better workers but they often lay up but jills work much faster but as soon as they cum out of the hole they often chase the bolted rabbits I know everyone has different experiences with there ferrets but I have 2 hobs now as opposse to having and using jill on and off all my life, and to be honest I think I will stick with them now I find them better, its probably just a trait of the 2 I have but so far they never lay up. max abell 196
Hi mate This is a age old question that no one person will ever be able to answer its somthing you will need to find out for yourself hobs and jills are equally as good as each other but ferreters tend to prefere one or the other for there own personal reasons IE size working ability temprement and so on all of them being right in a sense Its like buying a tool if you get a good drill and it works well lasts well and is reliable you tend to stick to that make of tool if you see what i mean and in a sense a working ferret is as well as a highly valid member of your ferreting team a tool for the job the most important tool I would keep 1 or 2 of each from your litter and see over time what you PERSONALY prefere GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR FERRETING MATE HOPE YOU HAVE SOME GOOD DAYS OUT Quote Link to post
sikastag_1 689
all down to preference mate, i keep both as i do a lot of ferreting in different situations, my hobs havent lay up all season, remember if you keep any hobs youll need top keep them seperate come next year when theyre all in season a hob to its own hutch as if theyre kept together they will fight, or kept with the jills youll have kits on your hands.
