Had one in the garden a few years ago, some magpies were attacking it and it run over to my dads foot and sat on it. My dad picked it up and gave it a blanket which it held on to.

We took it to a local rescue centre and they brought it up.

The good thing is they can never release it, so it stayed with a good home.

My Dad went on to kill around 20 that year.

I love all our wildlife - nothing cuter then fox cubs and baby rabbits and squirrels playing their games of chase up and down tree trunks. I was brought up in a bunny hugger home, and have a degree in wildlife biology. I'd still have killed it. Being a baby pest makes no difference at all. The only exception would be if that one wasn't a pest - eg. if you wanted one for a pet or something. Add to that the fact that it didn't run away and as already said, it'll probably, died of exposure/starvation, been run over or eaten by something anyway.

The only argument I'd take for leaving it be is that its best to leave nature to take its course.

FACT: GREY Squirrels are NOT Indigenous

FACT: Grey squirrels are vermin

FACT: Grey squirrels are ONE of the main reasons our indigenous Red squirrel is in decline

FACT: Any sportsman/woman with conservation in mind would have knocked it on the head (no disrespect intended DM)

FACT: Just my opinion :good:

Agreed, so all those who said leave it... would you leave baby rats as well then???

well it was your choice mate i would have killed it but they do make great pets if you decided o take it home.

Here is a pic of my pet squirrel and he is tame as they come and i think he likes shooting :tongue2: but before anyone says why have you got it as a pet and why dont you just kill it, it is doing no harm to the environmet and he will not be let go back into the wild :victory:
