Penny is very experianced with her dogs and does work them.

;)

I would like to add to this, i have coursed with penny and her partner andy in the east of england coursing club and some of their dogs were excellent, as you know it is not easy to get a good coursing dog, always dreaded being paired up with one of theirs plus several other members dogs, :D

I would second this ,just seen this thread ,any one who thinks Penny Taylor does not work her dogs is speaking from ignorance ,and is probably a misogynist.Penny is out daily with her dogs, bushing ,ferreting etc,Ive known her for years, she has a very good grounding on dog behaviour and health ,dietary matters, and a wealth of experience of all aspects of hunting with dogs, both now and preban.

Penny's front room has an impressive collection of trophies, won on the coursing field in the pre ban days, she fielded some fine dogs on the coursing scene and was a consistant winner .

With the passing of the Hunting Act, Penny and her partner Andy concentrate more on lamping and ferreting, both are first class hunters and people Im proud to have been out with.

I stopped getting the cmw when I started using this place. More so when I cottoned on some of the writers where on here. Can learn more for free this way. Do agree that more writers in cmw would have been a good idea, but as everything is pc and edited its easier to use this forum and exchange ideas rather than read bland and watered down articles weekly. Only had cmw when I started out and it served it's purpose and I learnt from it, but after a while I was just reading the same things again. Haven't read edrd but is on my to do list.

Well, I always enjoy penny's articles and have met her on a few occasions when she's judged shows here in sunny Wales and my impressions were that she is someone who is very knowledgable about lurchers and is very helpful and approachable. :notworthy:

As for the CMW, this weeks cover photo is the best i've ever seen......but I might be biased because the dog on the cover is in my backyard eating a nice meaty lamb neck....... :clapper::clapper:

If you send in an article that is printable they will consider it, done so myself a couple of times. There have to be editing constraints on any newspaper and you have to take that into account when writing, my last one was edited a little making for difficult reading but way it goes. So rather than bemoan the dark light a candle.

Ps Pennys' are usually very readable and, other than a slight carrot phobia lol, seem based on experience.

i have nothing but the utmost repect for penny and any one else who writes for any magazine, not only can it be heart breakingly hard to get into but as soon as you get even a few words published there is always some one there to rip both you and your words apart!

with out penny's help both directly through this site and indirectly through CMW i very much doubt i would have been able to keep my lurcher pup blaine!, with out penny's help and advice and with out miss tarka who took up where penny left off i would have rehomed blaine long ago!, but now i have a well adjusted and some times well behaved dog who i couldnt live with out!

i always find some thing of interest in CMW and i do have to say if you find CMW or shooting times boring then why are you on here? surely THL is just CMW on steroids??

i think you must have very thick skin to write for a living! or like being poor or both!

cheers
