woollyback 0
Im looking at putting a moderator on my .243 and .308 and wondered whats the most popular for these bigger calibres from you folks on here; I already have a wildcat p8 on my .223 and am very impressed with it but I've never heard or used any other type so have nothing to compare it with. From the reviews i've read the Reflex T8 has always been the one that set the standards and now the wildcat has been made in direct rivalry with it. But what about the muzzle cans and the like of the PES T12 Scout? Im after the one thats going to give me the best possible sound reduction for both my bigger rifles. All comments welcome. woollyback Edited May 26, 2009 by woollyback Quote Link to post
Guest busterdog
I use the Ase Ultra jet-z compact on my .243 and it's the dogs bollocks mate. the only draw back "apart from cost" is adds to over all length. Quote Link to post
sounder 9
WELL I HAVE THE T8 ON MY .243 I FIND IT GREAT !!!! atb sounder Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
I run the Predator 8 Compact on my .223, .243 and .308, keeps the weight down and perfectly adequate, just as good or better than the T8 in my experience although I concede there may be other moderators a "little" quieter. But they do for me! Quote Link to post

But they do for me! Is it the same tube but with 3 different baffle kits or have you 3 separate mods? Do you know how much different the compact p8 is to the standard p8 in terms of sound reduction Deker? Quote Link to post

speedystu 0
ase ultra mate alittle pricey but very good Quote Link to post
Fidgety 8
I have PES T12 (magnum?)on my .243 Tikka Hunter - very pleased, nice and slim. Gun is now nose heavy, but thats the price you pay. Sounds about the same as a .410 now. Quote Link to post
flytie 1
I got a T8 as part of the package I bought and am very happy with it so far. If I was to buy another it would have to a stainless steel one. I believe Wildcat, PES, Border Barrels and ASE all do them in Stainless. Having read the tests that were done in sporting rifle, there is not much between any of them. The new Border Barrels one looks good, and at a reasopnable price. ft Quote Link to post
woollyback 0
I like the fact that the wildcat mods are totally strippable, very easy to take to pieces and clean. How many of the above mentioned are fully strippable? If they arent, whats the life expectancy of a sealed unit? Quote Link to post
Fidgety 8
PES is stainless and not strippable. Life expectancy??? - for the price, a bloody long time i hope, but the rounds are not that dirty. Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Stainless should give a decent life. The wildcat is the one to get if you're thinking of T8-type though, it's strippable and IIRC some if not all is alloy, not even stainless steel, so should last ages. And of course, if bits do fail, you can replace the bits rather than the whole thing. For a muzzle-mounted model, the ASE Utra stuff is very good. Quote Link to post
