I've had a trapped nerve in my neck for a while now. Gives me pins and needles right down my arm and aches something fierce. Went to osteo a few times and it seemed sorted, just a bit uncomfortable now and then.

Yesterday tho it flamed up with a vengance. Neck is pulsing with pain, shoulder permanently numb, rest of my arm pins and needles. Tried meloxicam, no joy. Took some co-codamol last night but still laid awake most of the night unable to sleep. I can live with the pins and needles but the pain is really outstanding.

I've had some heat on it, made no difference. I've got an osteo appointment for tomorrow but until then has anyone got any sensible ideas for pain relief? Getting desparate now :(

Since 2002 ive had a trap nerve in my leg. Tried all sorts of meds, etc.....

Pysio from work has done the trick, loads of different stretches throughout the day.

Accupuncture is good way of helping the pain.

Stumbled over to the chemist in blind pain. Because I've had meloxicam I can't have voltarol. They gave me paramol which is apparently the same as sulphadine but cheaper, and some kind of heat rub. So now pain is reduced enough to let me see straight

Tomo I shall pass your suggestion along

Mooshka those links were helpful thanks. Will mention to the osteo dude tomorrow about trigger points and see what he thinks.

I know I sound like a whinger but this really fookin' hurts

I suffer from upper back/neck pain quite a lot I take solpadol and lie flat on the floor with a heat pad against the worst affected area (usually between the shoulderblades or in the middle of my back is the worst) or I take solpadol and lie in a hot bath til it goes away. I was put on voltarol a few years back and never found them to be any use whatsoever, but I suppose different medications work/dont work for different people?

Another thing to try is pain therapy, a bit kinky :icon_redface: but it works, Ive used it for severe period pains in the past. Basically just get someone to hit you very hard on the arse, til it goes red raw, then stop for a wee break then when you can take some more, get them to do it til you cant take anymore, you will find the throbbing arse takes your mind off the sore back :clapper:

Or perhaps I am just a pervert with a spank fetish? :D

Hope you got the book OK? let me know what you think of it ;)
