markbivvy 6
Is there a bit of confusion here? An open FAC gives you the right to shoot over any land cleared for the calibre you use. A closed FAC only entitles you to shoot over land for which you have written permission this bit is wrong. an open ticket lets you shoot on any land you have permission with any calibre that has the open condition. a closed ticket means on land that has been passed/cleared for the calibre you are using. the open ticket lark means you dont have to have land cleared/passed. vwt4 0
I have an open licence and it means I have a rim fire and .222 and I could shoot these two calibre rifles on any land I had permission and I took responsibility as to whether I decided it safe to shoot on the land. whether it was passed or not.( I think it would be your arse in the wringer if there was ever any problem though) I had my licence opened after 2 years which I asked for, and then sent a formal letter, at the time I belonged to a pest and vermin control club and we had probably upwards of 75 farms to choose from, this gave a good reason I agree, for me to give them to have it opened. Yes well . . . Perhaps I'm the one who is a bit confused! Or could it just be that the law is so badly phrased that no-one really understands it Quote Link to post

mickyfinn 1
riohog explains it as it is on the licence. and he is correct. there is a difference between open and closed. Quote Link to post
activeviii 8
I have only just got my first FAC but one of the question i asked was about open ticket. i was told that there is no such thing any more and that i will never be able to shoot over land that I see as suitable. all land that i want to shoot over will have to be passed by the FAO. i did ask if i would be able to apply after renewal and i was promptly told NO. they, Gloucester fire arms department, will not be doing open tickets and more. I hope this is not correct as i have loads of little bits of land the i wanted the 22LR on and i sold the air rifle for this reason. Phil Quote Link to post

I mean fully open to shoot where I have permision but without it having to be cleared by them! You could have knocked me over with a feather .I didn't argue with him and am waiting for the bit of paper. Shall let you know what happens. Quote Link to post
