It's not just suggested violence that can loose you your guns, a few years ago a friend of a friend had his rifles confiscated 24 hours after being disqualified for drinking and driving, he said the reason was and I quote '' if he is not responsible to know not to drive when drunk, he is certainly not responsible to be in charge of guns''

It is a sad state of affairs when you feel unable to stand up for yourself and others when you have an FAC/SGC to think about.

I believe the "edgyness" is in some form attributed to those who used their legally held firearms in the wrong way and caused massive suffering and grief. But it also has to lie at the foot of those who enforce to law to get their houses in order first of all. If there was a standard set of rules governing any matter, not just those of legally held firearms, then you would sign and abide by it. It strikes of hypocrisy when those who commit the same offences in other areas are treated differently.

I wouldn't want objects such as Guns in a house where a Domestic situation was apparent, not just because of the owner of those weapons being able to use them, but not everyone is as safety conscious as to where the keys to their gun safes are. Although Mal makes a valid point in regard to the countless other weapons in the household, the Kitchen is the most dangerous room in the house.

As for the above point RE: Drink Driving, I firmly believe that a drink driving offense leading to a ban on driving is a perfectly good reason to take someones firearms away. It is as bad as walking through a crowded shopping centre with a loaded firearm with intent. Drink drivers are not responsible in my view ;)
