Guest fence_hopper
either that dogs to hard or its not very good at its job, why the foks it so marked up i've seen some realy hard bull crosses been doing it for 5-6 yrs not that smashed. if he's still doing it by time he's 7 or 8 you'll no if he's as good as you think. the reason i say that is my mates grey bitch is to hard she's smashed to fuk and he's had to retire her early. nice dog though best of luck and hope you have many more seasons out of him ive got a saluki/bull/greyhound bitch, ... shes a lot bigger built than the dog pictured , and on the lamp shes as good as anything, she can kill twice as fast as him but does that mean she,s been tested ............. no !!! she,s got a good technique thats all ! ....... like i said ..... to get up and carry on and finish the job ........ thats testing . agree with you. where on the same line somewhere lol Quote Link to post

MR POACH 2
i know what your saying mr poach but ive seen dogs very keen and eager at the early start of the career and then became just average it their second year its just my view as i dont start my dogs until 14 -16 month on small quarry then later on bigger stuff on the subject of entering , i think your 100% correct, and a lot of dogs end up getting spoiled and then passed on , and i do firmly believe that sometimes you HAVE too hold a dog back, to stop it from being ruined , even when it appears that everything is going perfect , but i believe that any breed of dog that gives it its all ........... to the end , and then do it all over again is worth its weight in gold, if you were running a hare [preban] of course , and it ran endlessly to the point where it callapsed and couldnt stand, but hadnt managed to catch the hare , would that mean it hadnt tried its best , ?? ........................ testing isnt allways about the trophy at the end , its about the test atb mr poach Quote Link to post

I agree with you there but really both qualities are needed.A good hunting dog should dominate its quarry with style and not need to fight it too long.A dog does impress when it wont give up trying but a really good dog doesnt have to try that hard and makes it look easy. Those dogs should be bred from.
