took the HW100 out sunday {A GOOD DAY}

Recommended Posts

Hi every one

After coming back from Ireland with a massive hang over :sick: I needed a couple of days to rest before I even thought about going hunting. Anyway after reading a few posts the bug kicked back in again, and I decided to go out for a couple of hours Sunday.

Back out to moonlight valley, and I knew I was in for a bit of leg work. So I took the easy route round to the valley and stopped at a couple of hot spots on the way. I came up to the first warren and didn’t see any thing so carried on round, and went over to the big bunch of nettles at the bottom of this field, where I could see 2 kits and a buck out they were about 70yds away so a good stalk was in order and with the weather the way it was I found I was stopping every five steps to take a breather, it was fooking roasting and I was in full camo gear.

I got within my zero range 30yds and had to take 10 minutes to calm down, control my breathing and just take a few minutes to way up the situation. after 15 minutes had passed I shouldered the HW100 took aim and THWACK over it went and straight down its hole :censored: I thought so did not bother going to get it, as I had to climb a barbed wire fence then wade through some nettles and in this heat. I waited here for a half hour before moving onto the next spot.

As I was coming up to the brow of the hill I had to crouch down other wise I would have been spotted by two kits and two adults, so had to crawl about 20yds to get to my spot as I was crawling “out of the blue†a bunny dashed right in front of me and down the warren I was approaching fook. I eventually got to my spot after a number of breathers and popped my head up slowly to see if they were still about, and yes they were so took a couple of pics for you guys and then THWACKED the kit

Here are the pics

WHERE IT FELL

After been here for a while in the hot sun out in the open the only part of shade in this place was about 150yds from where I was so I decided to go and get some and have a drink as well. This was the main reason I went this way because of the shade here, so im having a break and I take a look around at the view and I clocked “mr raynard†having a mooch around as well, there was two hunters in the field this day. Then after he left two adults came out, but they were two far away for me to hit comfortable so watched them for a while to see where they go and came from, for my next visit.

After a long shade break I went on round to the valley got me bino’s up and had a look round and there was a few out about 100yds , so stalking again but I just got into it and I was spotted and of they went. So I made my way up to the corner of the fence line to get amongst the nettles { yes I did get stung } but a good advantage point for a bit of sniping and a bit of shade as the nettles were about 4 feet high. So got me self settled

and had my eye on this point

They kept popping up and down, and then they came out into the shade of their nettles, but I thought I would wait for an adult. It wasn’t long before one was up. By this time I had the bi-pod up and I was ready to take the shot, just had to wait for it to come a little more away from the warren it didn’t take long. I didn’t want to loose another to the hole anyway it got its self in my cross hairs and THWACK over it goes not a twitch. But the noise was cracking, you have to imagine it no wind no noise im in a valley and thwack I could here it crystal clear as it hit point of impact, and so could the rest of them because after they all fooked of those who were near enough to hear it.

Here is a pic take a look at this shot!

I had another from this spot as well and then to my surprise I started to watch some fox cubs right near a rabbit, and just sat and watched them for a while

Here is a pic of the cubs

After watching the cubs I decided to make my way back to the car via straight up moon light valley it’s a killer! On the legs! I headed into the direction of the tin mine as I know it’s a good spot, as I eventually got to the top I could see the top of the tree that will pin point im going in the right direction. Now you have to be very cautious when coming up this way because there is a small hill just by the tree where the bunnies sit and look out for danger so up I go slowly, peeping as I go and to my surprise there was nothing so I stood up straight and carried on up and just out of sight I clocked a buck sitting on the other side of the tin mine, so proud! it looked watching out for danger. But it didn’t spot me so back down I went and used the tree to obscure its view of me, and got down and crawled about 10yds till I was on top of the small hill which I call

“Rabbits look out point†got my self steadied and breathing under control shouldered the HW100 cross hairs on target but could not get a clear shot so had to shimmy a few feet very slowly to score. Once again cross hairs locked on THWACK over it went stone dead so up over pissed it of and put it in me bag.

And of back to the car via a long fence line right up to the gate where im parked, also with the opportunity to pick of a few on the way. I must have walked 200yds before I clocked my next target so started to stalk it , but spooked a small kit on the way which in turn spooked the other so I took up position about 35yds away and waited an hour had passed and out popped the first a kit , but left it I knew it wouldn’t be long before the adults would be out ,and I was right I took aim of the bi-pod and THWACK I even seen the pellet hit the point of impact it went down then to my amazement fooked of tried to look for it but know joy

{ don’t you just hate that when it happens }

So of again I go and I spot two more bunnies out one @100yds another @ 200yds.so made my way towards them, I got within range with the first one THWACK and bagged.

and moved my scope to the right to see if the other fooked of as well but no it was still out .so of I go again and got to some cover by the way of big bails of hay for the horses and took aim and missed I think I rushed the last shot as my Sunday roast was dished up 2 hours ago :censored: so decided to end my short time out there .I didn’t want to but I had a good time and thought oh well

{you know when you get like that} I had a bout five in all but left some for mr fox and its cubs

and took these home
