awen 29
You can not take hare here with lurchers. ( altugh plenty of lads do.. )They can only be coursed by the gryhound coursing clubs unfortunately. A permit is taken out by the coursing clubs, from the National parks and wildlife and then the hares have to be netted , which has to me a certain number, as if they dont reach the right amount, the coursing can not go on. When the hares are netted, they are kept in the place the coursing is to be held, for them to get use to it. 2 coursing greyhounds are sliped, with muzzles, at the hare after it has been released and given fair law. The winner of the course is the first greyhound to reach the hare. Personally, i prefer the way it was done in the uk before the ban, open coursing.. Only 2 other methods, with which a hare can be taken is by a shotgun, in season, as their is a season for hares over here, from september to Febuary and by a registerd beagle pack. Deer, can only be shot with a minimum caliber of a .22-250 rifle. A permit has to be got from the National parks and wild life aswell. Foxes, rabbits, rats, grey squirels, ect, are classed as vermin and are not protected and can be hunted, dug to with terriers ect all year round, although, their is a reconised season amongst fox hunting, rabbiting folk. Fox hunting with hounds and on horse back, is perfectly within the law still here, their is a lot of Uk folk moving over here from the , because of the ban over their. Frank. thanks frank, any ideas on number of boar if any in ireland Quote Link to post
