Guest anonymous
when they have no knuckle left. 1 - 1 1/2 years. As long as that you think? They are running with this guy, I know he thinks he is fast but to a dog, won't be that quick and he is only running 1.5 miles. I reckon 6 months should be fine to go out a 1.5 mile jog, no problem. If it's too much you simply stop or just take him out the odd day. I'd be surprised though if the dog actually runs all that way without wanting to stop and sniff everything in sight. That was why I was asking if they were on a lead. Quote Link to post

I tihnk the constant pounding of the pavement is hard on them. Also depends on how far you are running. depends a lot on the breeding, but a bigger dog i think needs longer to grow before you take it out. lots of theories about jogging with dogs, i just aire on the side of caution, i hope to have the mutts for while. Your probably right mate, just seems a long time just to go a jog. Been a while since I've had a pup but I used to start breaking it into rabbits from 9 months. Quote Link to post
aussiewhippet 0
do you mean going for a run ie- jogging for 4 + miles without stopping or running rabbits etc? i was talking about jogging. i hunt my dogs three times a week, but i haven't taken them for a run yet. Quote Link to post

I don't jog mate, think a 4 mile jog would just about kill me lol. No, the guy who wrote this post was talking about a 1 and a half mile run. I've never jogged with my dogs. I find if you take them a walk to an area where they can run, 2 dogs seem to excercise one another quite nicely especially if they are young. Don't personally see the difference between this than a 1.5 mile jog to be honest. Quote Link to post
