Guest oldskool
i've seen a few in australia.... they are definately not the fastest of dogs, not for our quarry anyway... Quote Link to post
runforyourlife 361
Personnally i think they would be over weight, carry to mush muscle and bring even more poor luurchers(mongrels) into the field... Quote Link to post
Guest oldskool
Personnally i think they would be over weight, carry to mush muscle and bring even more poor luurchers(mongrels) into the field... i agree, they have absolutely nothing to offer.... i used to think it would be a good idea until i seen a few in the flesh... stick with the bullterrier types mate... the bulldog cross isnt around for a reason... twoface14 1
Don't they have undershot jaws? you would breed that in to your lurchers as well. Quote Link to post

bird 9,986
i've seen a few in australia.... they are definately not the fastest of dogs, not for our quarry anyway... Spot on, Every Mammal we used to hunt Pre Ban, could run at 30-40mph . So whats the point of use'in a slower type lurcher. A dog of that x would be only good as a Drawin dog, or what its used in Oz for Wild Boar. Quote Link to post
cantona 310
I no of someone who has a litter of american bulldogs cross grey, the sire is more racy than a lot of pitts, jumps 5 bar gates has cought the odd bunny on lamp obviously very few, but is quality on somethings, the pups should be more racy than first cross pitts. By the way this is not an advertisment as i dont no the full script with the litter, what i am saying is not every bulldog is to bulky to be of any use. Quote Link to post
Guest oldskool
even if it was considered.... other than the hines and scot lines american bulldogs are only bred for shows, are they not??? Quote Link to post

allgame 0
i saw a photo of two on a ozzie site 12 months old they look about as fast a bully cross as you can get Quote Link to post
doga 50
this dog is bred through performance lines and has a massive prey drive although for me to big to produce functional working lurchers,as mentioned the smaller more original type bulldogs would be a better type dog to use.if you know your stuff the old original type very very rare would be as good as pits or working staffs the sort not tamperd with for asthetics as been the case in america before they came back to our shores.in all honesty stick with what has been proven here good working leggy staffs or their cousins even better. Bosun11 537
I've posted on this subject before, a few times. I had one, all supposed 'peformance' bred stuff, a pic of it, head only, can be found in my profile pics. Would I recommend one..... Never, about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike!
