There was a tom Riley and a tommy mc phee...

 

One had whippety types and one big deer hound types..

 

Aye mate, I know, just interested in what was wrote about them.

The tommy mac I lamped with ran small/medium whippet/greyhound type dogs booboy,never saw one of them retrieve a rabbit,point and shoot type dogs,but he made regular bags of 80'ies,90'ies and topped 100 several times as was well documented in shooting news,lets just say he was a cut above average as all the scribes of the day made pilgrimage to the far north to hunt with him Maybe he changed his hunting style?Maybe he changed his dog type

well the tom mc phee i met and got a dog of was deerhound cross daft and all he was shouting about was red deer .c**t the pup a got of him was 23 inches and it was only five month.al try and put some pics up and you can tell me if its the same boy. thats whats wrong with to many boys on here there living in the shooting news or a plumber or hancock book

Good discussion AND its giving you a bump for the pup advert HBG He was running a mother daughter team back then booboy,the mother was called ruby??Lot of water under the bridge since then but he lived in harold cottages??Reiss cottages??Your right,far too many people were plummerphiles

was it not T mc phee who had the top workers?? I dont know any thing just hear say think i read it on anther fourm..
thats the man didnt like to drop his name out though.atvb

 

dont think they would mind if they used to write articels in there name and had boys from all over stayin at there houses...

Tommy Mcphee from Caithness HBG?I went out with him once or twice,his dogs were lamping machines He was around the same era as Minshaw,they were the big league players

a got a dog of tam mc phee once .he was the kinda boy that never ran anything single handed. he ran packs of horses big 28 29 inche deerhound things he was daft on them.he always had pups for sale in the earth dog running dog.a think thats how he made his money .and can anyone tell me what this minshaw breeding is ?? and bye the way am no saying that theres anything wrong with these pups or that am just saying that tam mc phee isnae a" big player"

I MET MCPHEE, NICE ENOUGH CHAP, I MYSELF WOULD NOT CALL HIM A DOGMAN, THO HE RAN DOGS, I WATCH WHY HE RAN ,A PUP ,OFF ABOUT 5 MONTHS, THERE WAS 1000S OF RABBITS HOPPING ABOUT, HE RAN THE PUP, TILL IT NEARLY KEELED OVER, I SAID TO HIM ,GIVE IT A REST, TRUE HE STOPPED, DEBBIE AND RON BLOUNT WHERE THERE AT THE TIME, THEY HAD PRAISED HIM, ALL THE WAY ,WE TRAVELLED THE NORTH ROAD, THEY WAS NOT SO FORWARD ,AFTERWARDS, LIKE I SAY A NICE ENOUGH BLOKE, NO IDEA ABOUT THE LURCHERS WELFARE.

lol theres a boy round the corner from me stayed in caithness for a good few years living the dream i will ask him what he knows.
