I've had male dogs that have been running at this time of year on the lamp and because there are that many young rabbits about, they start playing with there quarry knowing fine well there will be another chase no matter what. Never had one right up a rabbits arse though and chose another rabbit. Might be something to do with hormones but I'm doubtful. I reckon you give her a week or two off, make her really keen, take her to a piece of land with fewer rabbits, hold her on the slip and let her see a few disappear, then be chosey what you run her on. She'll soon appreciate a chase. Either that or you have too many rabbits on your ground and need to let me come out with you and err give you a hand come September :D

THE ONLY TIME IVE KNOWN AN EXPERIENCED DOG SHY OFF WAS WHEN A MATES DOG NABBED A RABBIT AS IT WENT UNDER AN ELECTRIC FENCE AND THE DOG GOT A BELT, SURE ENOUGH THE DOG ASSOCIATED THE SHOCK WITH THE STRIKE ON THE RABBIT. HAS YOURS BEEN ANY WHERE NEAR ELECTRIC FENCES.

Think that's your best bet mate. You can sicken a dog off this time of year. I posted on another thread about running pups this time of year doing more damage than good. Just out of interest, what part of the country you from mate?

It just shows you mate how so many different experiences throws up so many answers to a problem. Surely the guy can do a test regarding placing something in front of the dog to see if it can see it up close? Or is it just if it is running?

this might sound even dafter ...but my lamp kit (the tiablo A9 with aspherical lens or the maglite upgrade) is so tight on the beam if you focus it in..the dog wont be seeing any other rabbits in the beam only the one your following..

if your using a striker..stick a plantpot on the end and narrow the beam down to a small spot and get rid of outer spread (they throw a light over half the field ).if she cant see em she cant be running em... anything is worth a try..and the plantpot and a bit of insulation tape will give you a way of testing.

p.s...dont forget to chop the bottom off the plantpot..hehee.
