allgame 0 Posted May 24, 2009 Author Report Share Posted May 24, 2009 thanks guys, its winter here and his first real season (but iv been using him lightly in easy holes on the pups all summer pest's over here)since he was about ten months but he's only just stepped it up a notch when he hit one he's about 15 months old, hard little ba##ard no matter what the animal were chasing and theres alot of big things over here, Quote Link to post

allgame 0 Posted May 25, 2009 Author Report Share Posted May 25, 2009 nah ya just cope it sweet if you hunt in the summer you have to be able to deal with the consiquences, it's rear that a dogs biten but iv been dodgeing them them for years and keep an eye out but the dogs just seem to know not to go near them, never had a dog biten while hunting nor heard of one, its when there on chians or pens when it seems to happen Quote Link to post
Marcos 44 Posted May 25, 2009 Report Share Posted May 25, 2009 Shite Allgame we wouldt put a dog in a den from October to May due to Tigers to many here to take chances and dogs love em, Ive lost terriers, sheep and cattle dogs to snakes not worth the risk here. allgame 0 Posted May 25, 2009 Author Report Share Posted May 25, 2009 ya iv never even seen a snake up north in the places i hunt around the desart and deni but it's real dry alot worse on the coast, used to run into a heap when i hunted with old archi near you but he never bothered putting the dogs away, i am vigilent but a have a good look at a hole befor putting a dog near it, i just couldnt imagen not hunting for that long but, geuss i could run stags at night hate to lose a good dog, that pups a ripper, hunting well keeps up like its been doing it all its life climbed a nice steep bank of an old tip that me and the other dogs struggled up, the top of bows head has another 3 holes in it just above the eyes supprised he stuck his head that far into its mouth lol Quote Link to post

Marcos 44 Posted May 25, 2009 Report Share Posted May 25, 2009 Yes it is hard when you loose a dog to snakes, we hunt during the warmer months above ground in the paddocks not the creeks and plantations. Also do a lot of spotlighting for foxs and bigger stuff with the stags. Sons big Wolfhound/ cross fractured two bones in hock Sat night so up for $1000 to fix up!! Will give you a ring re the long weekend as we may be gooing to Wangaratta deer shooting will talk soon. Cheers Quote Link to post
