I saw one a couple of days ago but the last one I saw previously was three years before that. One other thing: if hearing a cuckoo is the first sign of Spring and seeing a swallow is the first sign of Summer, how come I always see the swallows before I hear a cuckoo! Garypco 2 Posted May 24, 2009 Report Share Posted May 24, 2009 you sure they werent sparrowhawks Charlie????? good call jon,they look similar in flight and to have three in the air at once kinda looks like a sparrowhawk pair displaying and an outsider being nosy..... had a cuckoo behind the house this week! best one ive ever seen and ive seen two different birds are the hoopoe closest i got was about 20ft yr before last!
