fin and fur 2
So my MP claims £150,000 plus per year, whilst most of this £91,000 is in staffing costs there is still over £20,000 for a second home allowance And it is the second home allowances which really annoy me when it comes to MP's claiming expenses. Think about it when the Labour government came to power in 1997 one of the first things that they did was to put the bank of England in charge of setting interest rates, with low interest rates has come high house prices which means that anyone starting out on the road to home ownership these days is going to face a tough time of things, even tougher if interest rates start to climb. So how must a youngster struggling to buy their first home feel when he or she sees an MP fielding an annual expenses claim that equates to somewhere in the region of ten times their own gross income, when in many cases these self same people are responsible for the financial misery that we will all find ourselves in for some time to come Some of these second home allowances are quite farcical, particularly when an MP's first home is closer to the house of commons than their second home which they claim an allowance for, whilst doubtless legally acceptable this practice is morally wrong, and we should all expect MP's to behave in a manner which is both legally and MORALLY acceptable, prior to the expense claim debacle i always thought that Rik Mayalls the new statesman was just ficticious.
