heshimus 1
sorry spindolero, i must disagree. they are not fighting dogs or bred for that purpose. the experienced terrierman say that todays workers wanted a dog and only one dog in the hole for the work, but in the old days there was more than a dog. not so much bull blood they said and wrote about it. maybe i'm wrong and what everyone wants are workers that not work with others and don't team up. forget about the laughs of ratting then!!! best regards Quote Link to post
spindolero 1,111
i'm not saying one is right and one is wrong, but it's a fact that certain qualities are in terriers which mean when they go, they really can go. people bred for this, did they not? all the best with your terriers anyway. Guest busterdog
You lot aren't getting it at all I don't want any of my dogs to fight but shit happens !!! As for being the Alfa in the yard well that can only get you so far, as has bin said decades of breeding to work and prevail when all others will fail tends to get aggressive dogs. My own dogs aren't overly aggressive but when they get shit in there head it's hard to stop them. As for the shaking by the neck, i think that's best left for some owners. Quote Link to post
Guest Chip
not having a dig at anyone but all mine think there top dog after me and i prefer it that way and just not give them the chance to go at it ..seperate runs never sharing the same space loose ....or coupled unless its dog to bitch... part n parcel of working terriers and sooner work round than ever contemplate getting rid. can feel a bit monotemous at times letting one dog out after putting one away and so on just to clean them out feed etc. but its no price for keeping good working dogs.depends what there used for. get some runs panda Quote Link to post
winnie 1
My god there are some simple people around, no one is saying let them fight to the death but they must be given a chance to sort it out because no man can be around 24/7. And seperation is ok yes, but the grudge is still there. Try and let them sort, give them a thrashing and seperate if need be, but its better trying to resolve the problem than pretend is dont exist. Remember, most fights between dogs look and sound much worse than they are. And before some idiot says anything about fighting dogs, they have no place here and it is something completely different alltogether. Edited May 22, 2009 by winnie Quote Link to post
