riohog 5,766
riohog You're right about section 13.10 of the home office guidelines . The following line is what interests me Farmers and landowners may allow shooters to shoot on their land, for payment or otherwise, on a formal or informal basis. Maybe a few lines from the farmer when the time comes will suffice , John yes a bottle of whiskey helps aswell Quote Link to post
CharlieT 32
Even with an open license on renewal you have to name one piece of land where you shoot to prove your need for a firearm. Unless you have permission on a piece of suitable ground your fac will not be renewed. This is untrue. If you read section 13.10 of the home office guidelines it states that you do not need permission to shoot on any land to aquire an FAC. If you book a days shooting with a sporting agent this is all you require. This is a last resort and you'd be much better trying to get your own land, but if all else fails book a day somewhere. mark. Yes, you are quite correct and this happens frequently with stalking when applying for or renewing stalking caliber rifles when proof of bookings via a sporting agent or estate are accepted by licensing authorities. However I doubt this approach would work with a rimfire which is what the OP is talking about. If I was in his position I would join a club NOW so that I would be a full member by the time my renewal was up and have target shooting as my reason until I could sort out some new land. Mesarya 2
Hi all I have a question regarding my rimmy and FAC so please bear with me. Basically , about 2 years ago , the land where my rifle is registered has been sold on and i no longer have permission to access the land in any way , let alone shoot there I was just wondering where i stand when my FAC comes up for renewel in about 2 years time. I do have permission to use my rimmy on a nearby farm , but the farmer is unwilling for me to register my rifle to the land due to the fact that he already has enough guns registered to his property. I thought about joining a ' target gun club' to keep my license but a friend said that i would then only be able to use my rifle for target use , and only licensed to buy target ammo. Any advice on this matter will be greatly appreciated , John I am in a similar position right now, I am a member of rifle club I am planning to apply for my FAC but I don't have any permission on land but I would like to do deer stalking via sporting agency (only choice at this stage) this is where I am not sure if its a good enough reason. The worst case I will still put down guns for target shooting and later stage apply for variation if land permission found. Quote Link to post
mjr88 50
Hi all With reference to my original posting on this topic i've just had a piece of interesting news from the FAC department of North Herts Constabulary . Basically i phoned up the FAC department this morning and was told that there definately is such a thing as an 'open ticket ' in my area , but i wouldn't be eligable for this until my FAC comes up for renewel in about 2 years time. I asked the question , what would happen if the piece of land for which the rimmy is registered was lost at the time of renewel , and was told that , having held a ticket for at least 5 years and having more experiance , that an open ticket shouldn't be a problem at all. Just thought i'd post this info as it's given me hope , John Quote Link to post
