stealthy1 3,964
Rang one of the landowners that let me shoot on their land, I like to keep him happy because he lets me use any type of gun so long as it ends in rabbits going to heaven, rang to ask if he had any hotspots anywere, to which he pointed me towards a long hedge in some rape fields, I nearly died when I saw the damage, two weeks ago there was two and a half feet of rape in this gap. So I sat down just out of sight, and waited to see how many rape eating little gits would turn up, there was a lot of rustling behind me, which told me I was sat to close to the gap, so next time I will sit further back, you know what its like, you get sat down, the bunnies turn up, and your loath to move in case they all do one for the evening, first up was the little scury, did'nt want to whack it, but due to the damage they were doing I let him have it, is it me or does everyone mind whacking little'uns, next up was a large buck, he was ear marked for the ferrets, so he deffinitely had it, next up was a big doe, big belly on it, I went soft on that one and shot a pebble in front of it to scare it off, two more ran the HW100k gauntlet and lost, thought I was into a big bag, then it went strangely quiet, then I found out why, it absoluetly p**sed it down for the last hour, I sat there the ever opptomist, thinking that because I was on to a good session that it would pass, it did'nt, so I left with four, I'm going to give it a couple of days to settle, then I'm off back, rain eh! stealthy. Malt 379
Mate, I've seen the same on some barley/rape fields I've been invited too recently, it's bloody shocking. Some folk thing that the only damage rabbits do is dig holes. They want to get out and see some of these farms with their own eyes. Quote Link to post

I caught a little one with my bare hands the other night Will. It was only about 7 inches long. Didn't feel too good about pulling it's neck, but that rabbit could equal 30 or more come the winter, and those fields need all the help they can get. Still, it was funny when I got it out of the freezer for the ferrets tonight, I brought it up for the wife to see! She went fecking mental! Quote Link to post

Its not that I lack the tenacity, but she was dragging her self over the feild to grab some thing to eat, just felt that with that kind of drive she should be given quarter, just this once, I'll get her next time.
