danebrewer10 6
Hi all, anyone here read sporting shooter magazine? well you know that rifle that jeff bucknell's got, the one made with an M16 bolt to give a tiny bolt lift? does anyone know any info on it as I don't think I have a sporting shooter account so I can't ask... If you've got any info on the gunsmith who made it or even if they're still being made, I'd greatly appreciate it! Cheers! DB10 Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
I think you'll find its Robert Bucknell Its an AR15 with a straight pull bolt I think. Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Quite probably - he yips on in the foxing book about how it was his favourite fox tool. And fair enough tbh, if we could still own a semi auto .223, I would also use an AR15 for foxing. Quote Link to post
coldweld 65
Why would you need a small amount of bolt lift ? Mine are dead after the the first shot. Quote Link to post

DB10 i think he carved the stock himself from a walnut tree in his back yard so the custom job was probably done by him Quote Link to post

Mr_Logic 5
Yes I have, but not for many years... I was referring to your point about them only needing the one shot to die. I've had occasions where I would have had the second had I not been farting about with a bolt to reload. Off a bipod in certain circumstances that shot is there, but it's rarer with a bolt action. My point is therefore simply that while you do get a chance sometimes with a bolt action, a semi simply makes it easier. I was surprised you'd not seen that since you've been to sea before... coldweld 65
Yes I have, but not for many years... So when and where and what rifle was that then ? just out of interest ? Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Way back in cadets, at whichever range we went to, the LSW. Quote Link to post
coldweld 65
Wow you surprise me ! the one and only time you shot a fully Auto rifle and you can't recall when and where you shot ? I can remember my first shots with a LA A1 at Beckingham range in 1978. Quote Link to post
