ace32 4
like digger said, first stop, nets, finder, good spade, waterproof leggings,as you spend a lot of time on your knees, and handle your ferts plenty, they are a different animal when on the rabbits, especially young uns so,i hope your a patient fella, takes them a few goes to settle into it,ok,ian Quote Link to post
Halfinch 51
Firstly Welcolm Well, i think the first thing you'll need is patience, I didn't catch bugger all the first couple of times i went, it was a matter of stick the ferrets in, he pops back up and i move on Sometimes it may take inexperienced ferrets a while to shift them, meantime you need to be quite. And get yourself a locator, i lost a ferret in the begining thinking i didn't need one, but i would never be without one now. But most of all, Enjoy yourself, that's what it's all about. max abell 196
Hello mate welcome to the one of the best field sports there is Golden rule no 1 is dont try and run befour you can walk as in any thing in life and dont expect you young ferrets to either some youngsters go in and bang they bolt rabbit after rabbit and others take a bit longer to to get the hang of the game but they soon pick it up some of my best workers have hit top form at 2 year olds and go on for years of loyal service very rarely you do get the odd ferrets that just dont seem to want to be workers but this is not very often You will have to get yourself some purse nets your personal finances will have to work out what you can afford how many/what made off /new or 2nd hand/ or even later on with experiance learn to make your own you can never have enough nets polyester spun nylon and hemp being the best in my book but there are a lot of nylon nets on the market to get you started 10z nylon being the better ones locator spade and a paunching knife and end of summer and your ready to go OH AND PERMISSION OF COURSE There are hundreds of books dvds and sites like this where there is always good people from all walks of life who will be happy to put you right we dont all always agree on every subject as in time when you have been at it a while you will have your own ideas and ways of doing things But there is one thing we all do agree on is we love the sport of ferreting and im sure you will grow to love it too and then like me you will spend hours on the net looking at ferreting sites and equipment and getting nagged at by the wife GOOD LUCK MATE HOPE YOU AV A GOOD TIME KEEP POSTED ON THE SITE Quote Link to post
